About The Happy Prince, a Summer Concert | Sunday 25th June
Join us for Musical Rainbow Project’s Summer Concert 2023, “The Happy Prince”, and the launch of the Musical Rainbow Chamber Ensemble on Sunday 25th June 2023.
Does real happiness come from being loved, or from loving to the extremes of self-giving? Oscar Wilde’s famous short story about the friendship of a prince and a swallow offers a challenging answer to the real meaning of happiness.
We will be presenting a fresh musical setting of Wilde’s text by Gerard LeFeuvre, alongside Gerald Finzi’s evergreen ‘Eclogue Op. 10’ for Piano and String Orchestra, and Saint-Saëns’ ‘The Carnival of the Animals’.
Programme:
Finzi: Eclogue Op. 10 for Piano and String Orchestra
Saint-Saens: The Carnival of the Animals
LeFeuvre/Wilde: The Happy Prince
(Total Duration: ca. 80 mins plus interval)
