About The Bute Wind Quintet

The Quintet help us continue to celebrate György Kurtág’s 100th birthday with an early masterpiece, his Wind Quintet, alongside exhilarating contemporary music by a varied group of composers, not least Ligeti with his quirky and witty Six Bagatelles, Kvandal’s Wind Quintet, Arnold’s Three Shanties drawing upon traditional sea songs, and MacMillan’s haunting and expressive Untold. The programme brings out the contrasting qualities of the constituent instruments to showcase the group’s virtuosity.
