About Field Notebook Cover Workshop | Lonely Larch Leatherwork

In this workshop we'll be making small (around a6) leather field notebook covers. We'll cover many of the basics of traditional leatherwork including cutting the leather from patterns, tooling a design of your choice into the leather, dying leather, preparing edges and burnishing them and braiding a seven-strand cord (to retain the books inside the cover).

The notebooks, leather and all the required tools will be provided. Bring along a picture or design you want to adapt into tooling, nothing too complicated - lots of lines close together is difficult. Feel free to email me (finthehobbit@live.com) before the workshop if you want to check the suitability of a picture or design you want to adapt.

We will be using leather dye with a chance of spattering onto clothes (stains do not come out) so if this worries you bring old clothing/whatever you don't mind risking dyeing.

The Workshop may be cancelled if enough places aren’t booked, in this event notice will be given in advance and refunds issued.
