Please be aware that an experimental psychological test will be conducted at Todmorden Unitarian Church on Friday 31st October 2025 between 15:00 and 0:00. This Listening Test will utilise diverse and experimental auditory materials in order to assess responses indicative of amusia within a subject group of consenting participants. Ensuring environment fidelity is imperative to maximize the efficacy of these materials during the stimulus exposition and subject interpretation phases. Therefore, our standard procedural testing model necessitates the use of authentic live music establishments as environments for these experiments.

Subjects of Listening Tests should be prepared for an extremely diverse range of contrasting and experimental auditory materials to be demonstrated to them in order to generate the necessary temperamental psychosociological conjecture between conflicting auditory trends for study.

Listening Test 8E represents the third execution of our flagship study referred to within academic circles as The Cheeky Bastard Experiment. First conducted in 2015 at Whittles in Oldham, then in July of this year at Satans Hollow in Manchester, this experiment employs the use of the highly contrasting auditory materials of famous singing and dancing duo The Cheeky Girls with those of the atrociously offensive shouting and swearing techno punk duo, Petrol Bastard. This Listening Test is timed to coincide with the Halloween birthday party of The Cheeky Girls, who were born in Transylvania on the 31st October 1981, and is to be celebrated in a wholly valid manner in order to legally coerce a high number of willing and consenting subjects into the Listening Test environment.

Todmorden Unitarian Church was built between 1865 and 1869 in honour of Todmorden born mill owner, social reformist, prominent Unitarian and the first Member of Parliament for Oldham, John Fielden. It is considered to be one of the finest examples of Gothic Revival architecture in the North West. The church was commissioned to be built by his sons on land they owned at Honey Hole Road in order to account for the growing local Unitarian congregation following his death in 1849. The first and oldest continuing denomination of Unitarianism is the Unitarian Church of Transylvania, founded in 1568, the survival of which was unknown in the UK until the 19th Century. The integration of these cultural, historical and geographical elements is designed to investigate the phenomenological, environmental and psycho-acoustical correlates underlying the emergence of a perceived phenomenon colloquially referred to as a “spiritual vortex".

Doors will open at 15:00. Auditory exposition will cease at 22:30. Remaining subject consultations will be conducted thereafter. Food will be available at this event.

This Listening Test will utilise contrasting fringe and experimental auditory materials in order to test for responses indicative of Amusia within the subject group. Some of the materials for this Listening test will definitely be considered inappropriate or ridiculous. Listener discretion is strongly advised. We cannot say this enough.
